Creative producer/ Director of photography

Juan Carlos Malavé is a Puerto Rican creative producer and director of photography based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He harnesses the diversity of the island and its expressive arts scene to produce commissioned videos and documentaries for organizations and brands. Malavé's clients have included the Puerto Rico Arts Initiative, the Social Science Research Council, Departamento de la Comida, Parceleras Afrocaribeñas, Coordinadora Paz Para la Mujer and many others. He has also collaborated to make video works with dancers and visual artists including Petra Bravo, Karen Languevin, Nibia Pastrana, Edrimael Delgado, and served as Director of Photography for Pati Cruz’s upcoming documentary feature, Nació Simon. He has also made music videos for artists including Combo Chimbita,  Maria José and Mussa Medusa. Malavé holds a bachelor's degree in arts and photography from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, and has taken film workshops in Puerto Rico, ESCAC in Spain, at the Escuela de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba and at UnionDocs in New York."
